Update: Thank you to everyone who turned out for the Swazzle Workshop Sale! From the sales of puppet building materials and raffle tickets, the winning bids in our silent auctions, and our photo and autograph session with Miss Yvonne we raised close to $5,000 in one day.
I spoke with Michael Earl after the sale, and he was very grateful for everyone?s support. We still have a way to go to raise our goal of $100,000, but we can do it with your help. Please spread the word by tweeting this fundraising link with the hash tag #savesnuffy.
Swazzle?s Workshop Sale to benefit puppeteer and puppet instructor Michael Earl in his fight against colon cancer is today, October 20, from 8am to 4pm at Swazzle.
We will be selling puppet-building materials including fake fur, fabric, feathers, fleece, puppet costumes and props, audio equipment and more!
We?ve just added some exciting items to our silent auction. Peter Linz, the puppeteer behind, or rather underneath, new Muppet star Walter is donating a signed Walter doll. Along with the doll, the highest bidder will receive a phone call from Peter and Walter for the person of their choice on the day of their choice.
Leslie Carrara Rudolph, the puppeteer of Sesame Street?s breakout character Abby Cadabby, is donating a Fairy Joy Package that includes a signed photo, a signed Abby Cadabby doll, and a personal phone call from Ms. Cadabby herself. The package also includes some special Sesame Street surprises.
The Chiodo Bros., who created the puppets for Team America World Police and the ?80s cult classic film Killer Klowns from Outer Space, are donating an original signed Killer Klown illustration by character designer Charlie Chiodo.
Miss Yvonne from Pee-wee?s Playhouse will be signing autographs and posing for photos in her classic Christmas dress from 10am to 1pm. Take a photo with the most beautiful woman in Puppetland for $10 and get her autograph for $10.
We?ll be raffling off unique puppet building materials, including sheets of Antron fleece (Muppet fleece). This material was a mainstay in television puppet building for decades until manufacturing was discontinued. Buy one raffle ticket for $1 or six tickets for $5 for a chance to win one of the best and now rarest puppet building materials ever produced.
Swazzle is located at 4525 San Fernando Rd., Unit F, Glendale, CA 91204. Street parking is available, and cash and credit cards will be accepted. Silent auction bids will be accepted in person or over the phone at 866-792-9953. Bidding will end at 3:45pm, and you do not have to be present to win.
