Al Done

Al, done

Once I finished Al the Alien’s mouth palate, I painted his skin with a combination of flock glue and acrylic pigment. His eyes were made out of styrene vacuformed over a half sphere and painted with a combination of black and silver spray paint and glossy Krylon clear coat.

Here is the finished puppet in front of the barn on the Jim Henson Company lot.

have a question ... what did you use to coat the foam head once it was sanded? It doesn't appear that the foam was painted, but rather, it looks shiny, as if you coated it with rubber.I

The head and hands were painted with a mixture of flock adhesive and acrylic pigment. The flock adhesive dries clear and makes a thin, rubbery, but strong skin.
