"I Could Write A Sonnet"...

..."About Your Easter Bonnet"...

A perfect fit!

Patrick checks out Wendy Widow's hat for "Bugsy Brown: Private Fly".

Patrick at work.

Once he's got the right "look" to it, he adjust the hat to fit! 'She'll be the grandest Spider in the EASTER PARADE!'*

*Note: Wendy isn't actually going to be in any Easter Parade! I'm just re-jiggering the lyrics to "Easter Parade" to make the point about the hat!

Sean acts out!

From a different view.

Sean rehearses a scene with Mr. Bandar and Mukesh. Look at the expression on his (Sean's) face! Isn't it wonderful?! I loved catching it with the camera! At the moment the picture was taken, Mr. Bandar was yelling at Mukesh--boy, I wouldn't want him yelling at me!

"The Case of the Elephant Trunk" shows have started! I hope you all get the chance to see it!

Rehearsal pics "The Case of the Elephant Trunk"

Elephant Trunk background

The Case of the Elephant Trunk's background painted by Sean Johnson.

I really liked this background! It looks very dimensional. I feel like I could pick the pot up and move it...or use it! And on a hot day like today, the breeze from the palm trees is most welcome!

Enjoy!

Working it out.

Acting out.

Sean works through the movements of the scene.

Mukesh gets SPICEY!

And here it is in the rehearsal. This is one (of many!) things I've always credited with making Sean such a good puppeteer--he really puts thought into the puppet movement of each scene and what those movements and action signify.

Puppet Show rehearsals!

Sean reads lines

I spent most of last week in LA working on our 2007 Summer puppet shows. I didn't grab pics of ALL the rehearsals...sorry, I was in some of them :-)...I DID, however, snag some from Sean's "The Case of the Elephant Trunk" rehearsals at the Lonny Chapman Theatre. For those of you who saw it, the Lonny Chapman Theatre is also the location of the "Prairie Dog Pete" show run we had during the Spring. Above is Sean, backstage, reading through his lines right before we run the scene.

Elephant Trunk stage

Here's the set up for Sean's show. I don't know if you can see them but, the new stage is comprised of two trunks and everything we need fits inside of it. Set up is a SNAP! I LOVE it!...well, as much as one CAN love setting up!

I'll be posting more from the rehearsals this week and then I'll start a series of photos from THIS summer's tour! You can follow "Rex and Boots" along with Tim and I all summer!

Enjoy!

Whew! Busy week!

Lion eyes

I'm back from rehearsals in LA! YAY! First show tomorrow! And I am looking forward to it!

Sorry for the post interuption--it was hard to find the time with all the Swazzle stuff going on!

Here are a few more of the pics from those Martha Stewart Puppet Crafts I mentioned...AGES ago!

The more I used them, the less I like them. All the little felt bits kept falling off and I eventually had to resort to glue...UGH!

The designs were very cute, the packs did include EVERYTHING to make the puppets but, the amount of frustration involved was very high. I wouldn't recommend them but, did enjoy looking at them.

They were too small for me to put on properly and the moment I picked them off the table, pieces fell off! HA! So, I'll post the last of those pics (I did take them, so why not?) and then I'll start posting about the shows!

YAY!
